Secrets of the Royal Palaces (C5)

I am rather enjoying this series, with visits to Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral and others, historians such as Kate Williams, Janina Ramirez and Anna Whitelock and art specialists like Jacky Klein as well as Viscountess Hinchingbrooke and several eminent journalists. There is a lot of useful information about English and British monarchs from the last thousand years.

However, the episode shown on 9th January claimed that George II was responsible for the 1692 Glencoe massacre. Apart from the fact that he was only eight at the time – just as Shakespeare accuses Richard III of killing the Duke of Somerset at St. Alban’s when he was two – George didn’t set foot in Britain until 1714, when his father inherited the three crowns.

I think they meant the 1746 battle of Culloden.
